What is Kava?

Kava is a Cosmos SDK Layer 1 that added EVM-compatible execution so Ethereum-style DeFi (lending markets, stablecoins, DEX liquidity) can coexist with Tendermint consensus and IBC connectivity. The pitch is a DeFi hub: borrow/lend against crypto collateral, mint stablecoins, and route assets across ecosystems with bridges—subject to the usual bridge risks.

KAVA secures the network via staking, pays incentives, and votes on risk parameters and emissions. Kava has iterated through incentive programs and chain upgrades; verify current money markets and oracle setups before depositing.

Compared with Ethereum-native DeFi, liquidity depth and composability differ—judge Kava on TVL quality, liquidations history, and developer traction, not generic “cross-chain bank” language.
