Curve DAO (CRV)

What is Curve DAO?

Curve Finance is a decentralized exchange built around an automated market maker tuned for like-priced assets—especially stablecoins and liquid-staking derivatives—so swaps can be very capital-efficient with comparatively low slippage. That focus made Curve central to DeFi’s stablecoin plumbing: large pools (for example the classic 3CRV basket of DAI, USDT, and USDC) anchor liquidity where traders and protocols rebalance balances.

CRV is the governance and incentive token. Liquidity providers earn trading fees and, historically, CRV emissions; long-term participants often interact with vote-escrowed mechanisms (veCRV) to align gauge votes and rewards—details have evolved, so check current docs for lockups and derivatives. Curve also hosts pools for yield-bearing assets (e.g. interest-accruing stablecoins or LST pairs), where returns can stack from the underlying instrument plus swap fees plus incentives.

Because pools hold assets that are meant to track each other, small depegs create arbitrage opportunities that also help the AMM rebalance—useful for markets, but not risk-free for LPs if a peg fails.
